Approved Used vs New Cherry Pickers
Buying a used, or second-hand access platform is often a very good choice and can afford you a bit more flexibility.
Not only is it budget-friendly, it tends to hold its value if well maintained and you are often provided with a wider choice of readily available equipment.
It’s ideal for short-term contracts or specific jobs and can be resold on afterwards with minimal depreciation.
Financing your Cherry Picker purchase
There is a wide range of funding your cherry picker purchase. Here are some of the most common types - further information can be found here.
Contract Hire - No initial capital outlay and regular monthly payments, typically over three to five years. LOLER testing and servicing (link) is typically included in the payment.
Hire Purchase - Spreading the cost by paying a deposit along with the VAT element at the start, then spreading the remaining balance over an agreed period (3 to 5 years is common).
Lease Purchase - a form of hire purchase where the larger balloon payment is at the end of the finance. Typically results in lower monthly payments for your cherry picker.
Operating Lease - Long term hire with smaller initial finance outlay. Cherry picker returns at the end of the lease.
Rent to Buy - enables you to use the cherry picker for an agreed period before deciding whether to purchase it or simply return.
