There is a wide range of funding your material lift purchase. Here are some of the most common types - further information can be found here
Contract Hire - No initial capital outlay and regular monthly payments, typically over three to five years. LOLER testing and servicing (link) is typically included in the payment.
Hire Purchase - Spreading the cost by paying a deposit along with the VAT element at the start, then spreading the remaining balance over an agreed period (3 to 5 years is common)
Lease Purchase - a form of hire purchase where the larger balloon payment is at the end of the finance. Typically results in lower monthly payments for your material lift
Operating Lease - Long term hire with smaller initial finance outlay. Material lift returns at the end of the lease.
Rent to Buy - enables you to use the cherry picker for an agreed period before deciding whether to purchase it or simply return.
Please note all instructions and specifications provided are from manufacturer’s handbook are correct at the time of entering. All speciifcations are subject to change without notice or obligation. If you are in any doubt – please consult your APS representative
Performing a lift on a single loads such as beams, lighting trusses, ducting and pipes can be performed productively using two ToughLift® material lifts together. This is commonly called a tandem lift.
Please see instructions in the pdf download highlighting requirements for performing such a lift.
The ToughLift® Maintenance Manual provides detailed scheduled maintenance information, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and exploded drawings with parts lists, to enable a qualified maintenance engineer or technician to undertake work on ToughLift® Material Lifts.

You can’t get better value than our fixed-price service plans. Routine servicing and maintenance will not only help keep your access platform reliable (and legally compliant under LOLER 98 and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)), it will give you an early warning of any potential problems that could result in unexpected, costly repairs and unnecessary downtime.
There are no hidden extras - pricing is inclusive of labour, travel time, mileage and any relevant consumables detailed in the service plan.
Typical Service plan
LOLER stands for “Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998”. These regulations were created under the Health and Safety at Work Act with the aim to reduce the risk of injury from using lifting equipment at work.
LOLER regulations apply to people and companies who operate or have control over lifting equipment, whether they own the equipment or not.
A LOLER inspection involves a “thorough examination” of the equipment in question to ensure it is fit for purpose and safe to use. The inspections must be carried out by a competent person and any defects must be reported to the person responsible for the equipment and the relevant enforcing authority.
Lifting equipment used at work also comes under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). PUWER requires that all equipment provided for use at work is suitable and safe for the intended use, is used by adequately trained people, is maintained correctly and is accompanied by suitable health and safety measures.
Lifting equipment must comply with both PUWER and LOLER regulations, which include extra requirements specific to lifting equipment.

When you’re buying used equipment, you need assurance that it will give you safe and continued performance during its lifecycle.
Every Approved Used access platform and material lift is thoroughly inspected by our experienced CAP-trained engineers at our own workshops. Following the inspection, we then refurbish according to the overall condition of the equipment. Inferior equipment is scrapped so you never need to worry about buying anything that is considered unworthy of a second life.
