Equipment and tool hire rental company Lakeside-Hire has taken delivery of a fleet of BoSS PA-lifts that set new standards in low level access.
Access Platform Sales (APS) has supplied Lakeside-Hire with 10 BoSS PA-lifts with class-leading working height plus safety and diagnostic features usually only found on larger access platforms.
The BoSS PA-lift, the successor to the already hugely popular BoSS X3 and BoSS X3X scissor lifts, has gained plaudits since it was launched by APS, the exclusive distributor of BoSS machines in the UK and Ireland.
Tail lift loading
It is the only push-around scissor lift on the market fitted with an overhead proximity sensor and with a diagnostic system that allows data to be viewed and saved via a smartphone app.
Lakeside-Hire Owner Matt Browne said: “We had been investigating push around scissor lifts to refresh and expand our fleet. As soon as we saw the BoSS PA-lift we knew this was the machine we’d been waiting for.
“It’s very impressive, in that it provides more working height but is the same weight as the BoSS X3X it replaces, so it can still be loaded on a van tail lift, which is critical for us.
“The new safety and diagnostic features on the BoSS PA-lift set it apart from its rivals and will be welcomed by our customers. We’re excited to be one of the first rental companies to offer it.”
Lakeside-Hire, based in Aveley, Essex, provides a wide range of access platforms and other equipment, including scaffold towers and ladders. In 2021, it achieved a Feefo Platinum Trusted Service award.
Adding capability
APS Southern Sales Director Lee Louder said: “We’re delighted Matt and his team at Lakeside-Hire have taken the BoSS PA-lift, which really does set new standards in low-level access.
“By every measure – safety, productivity, utilisation rates, remote diagnostics, build quality and customer satisfaction – the BoSS PA-lift impresses. I’m confident Lakeside-Hire’s platforms will deliver excellent service.”
The BoSS PA-lift, manufactured by WernerCo, has been designed from the bottom up to add capability while maintaining the features that have already made BoSS machines a class leader.
Industry-best working height
It has an industry-leading maximum safe working height of 5.4m, 0.2m higher than the BoSS X3X it replaces. Its platform is 630mm wide, 60mm wider than previous BoSS machines, with an increased safe working load of 250kg.
The low-level scissor lift’s overall width is still 760mm wide so it can be moved easily through a standard single doorway. Weighing just 375kg, it is easy to manoeuvre, and suitable for use on most floors where a low point loading is critical.
The BoSS PA-lift’s innovative overhead proximity sensor increases the frequency of the ascent alarm when the platform gets to within three metres of an overhead obstacle. At two metres it goes to constant tone and stops the platform ascent. The operator can then fine tune their working height.
New diagnostics
The scissor lift has an array of other safety features, including tilt and overload sensors. It can also be fitted with a range of accessories, including a confined space guardrail and anti-climb guards.
The BoSS PA-lift’s pioneering new diagnostic system is designed to increase utilisation rates and reduce the need for maintenance callouts.
Lakeside-Hire’s customers will be able to download data to a smartphone app and share it with the company’s engineers, so problems can be assessed and addressed without a site visit.
The diagnostic system supports a key design objective for the BoSS PA-lift, which has been to reduce the push-around scissor lift’s whole life cost for rental companies. The platform also has a three-year parts warranty.
